Dear friends,
I am Lin Shengliang, a human rights defender from China. I stand on this important occasion to share my passion for human rights and my deep concern for the Chinese people. I hope to take this opportunity to convey an important message to everyone, that is: human rights have no borders, and we should all stand together to defend them.
I know that the human rights situation in China is extremely serious. Because I bravely expressed my dissatisfaction with the authorities, I was arrested and imprisoned twice by the Chinese Communist Party. In prison, I suffered unspeakable torture and torture. I almost died from it. But I didn’t give in, I persisted. After I was released from prison, I continued to engage in rights protection activities, even though the CCP police forcibly disappeared me many times and implemented strict surveillance on my family.
I arrived in the Netherlands to seek asylum on August 28, 2021, and now, I am still firmly engaged in human rights activities because I deeply believe that no matter where we are, we have a responsibility to stand up, defend human rights, and oppose oppression.
The “Evil List Project” we established aims to record the personal information of the perpetrators of the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of human rights and expose their actions on the Internet. We believe that the large-scale human rights disasters in China are inseparable from specific perpetrators. Only by cracking down on those individuals who are specifically involved in persecuting human rights can we prevent their evil motives from the source and increase the cost of their evil deeds. That is why we are working hard to promote the successful implementation of the European version of the Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act and trying to try Chinese officials in international courts. We must pursue justice wherever we go and no matter how difficult it is.
Today, I stand here again. On the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, we would like to deeply mourn all the people who were persecuted to death in communist China. We must let the people of the world always remember that in the distant east, the Chinese people have been and are being ravaged and devastated by the tyranny of the CCP. Their sacrifice should not be forgotten and we should fight for their future.
Thank you all for listening, and thank you for your support of human rights. Let us unite and work together for a more just and freer world. Thanks.
